DISH Network Offers Local Channels in San Diego

LITTLETON, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 5, 2000--  EchoStar Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: DISH, DISHP) is pleased to announce that beginning today DISH Network(TM) will offer local KGTV-ABC (Ch. 10), KNSD-NBC (Ch. 17), XETV-FOX (Ch. 6) and KFMB-CBS (Ch. 8) by satellite television to the entire San Diego county.

With the addition of San Diego, Calif., DISH Network now offers local channels via satellite TV in 30 cities and their metro areas nationwide.

With final passage of satellite TV legislation by Congress last December, DISH Network can now provide cable customers an affordable and complete alternative by offering local ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX network channels for a package price of only $4.99 per month. A national PBS channel can be purchased for an additional $1 per month. DISH Network also plans to offer popular independent network channels in some markets.

With the addition of San Diego, DISH Network currently offers local channels in 30 metro areas, including: Charlotte, N.C.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; New York; Los Angeles; Chicago; Philadelphia; San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose; Boston; Dallas-Ft. Worth; Washington, D.C.; Detroit; Atlanta; Seattle-Tacoma; Minneapolis-St. Paul; Miami-Ft. Lauderdale; Phoenix; Denver; Pittsburgh; Nashville; Salt Lake City; Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo.; Houston; Cleveland; and Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne, Fla.; Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla.; Sacramento-Modesto-Stockton, Calif; St. Louis; Portland, Ore., and Indianapolis.
