DISH Network Offers Local Channels in Greenville

LITTLETON, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 2000-- EchoStar Communications Corporation   is pleased to announce that DISH Network(TM) now offers local WLOS-ABC (ch. 13), WSPA-CBS (ch. 7) and WHNS-FOX (ch. 21) by satellite television to 28 counties in the greater metro area of Greenville, Spartanburg, Asheville and Anderson, S.C. With the addition of Greenville, DISH Network now offers local channels via satellite TV in 32 cities and their metro areas nationwide.

DISH Network customers will be able to receive local ABC, CBS and FOX network affiliates immediately. DISH Network will add the NBC affiliate, WYFF (ch. 4), when DISH Network is able to obtain retransmission consent on reasonable terms from Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc., who owns WYFF-NBC. DISH Network will offer the ABC, CBS and FOX affiliates at no charge until WYFF-NBC can be added to the local channel package.

With final passage of satellite TV legislation by Congress last December, DISH Network can now provide cable customers an affordable and complete alternative by offering local ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX network channels for a package price of only $4.99 per month. A national PBS channel can be purchased for an additional $1 per month. DISH Network also plans to offer popular independent network channels in some markets.

DISH Network offers local channels to Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville-Anderson in the following metro area counties: Abbeville, Anderson, Buncombe, Cherokee, Elbert, Franklin, Graham, Greenville, Greenwood, Hart, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Laurens, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitcham, Oconee, Polk, Pickens, Rutherford, Spartenburg, Stephens, Swain, Transylvania, Yancey and Union.

With the addition of Greenville, DISH Network currently offers local channels in 32 metro areas, including: Charlotte, N.C.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; New York; Los Angeles; Chicago; Philadelphia; San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose; Boston; Dallas-Ft.
